It is two weeks before Lunar New Year,the most important festival of the Chinese calendar,where families gather for a reunion dinner on the eve of it to signify family bonding.But for three families who are plagued by fueds and marriage woes at a time of soaring costs,a happy reunion dinner may just not materialize.

再过两个星期就是农历新年，这个华人非常重视的节日中，除夕的年夜饭更是让一家大小团聚用餐，有着象征家庭团圆吉祥的意义。可是，在一片物价高涨声中，三个家庭正被旧怨新恨、婚姻触礁的烦恼纠缠，他们快乐的团圆饭看来遥不可及。 嗜赌如命的阿昌（陈汉伟），在妻子发生的一场意外中，被警方误逮了。他被关进牢房、妻子在医院昏迷不醒，他的三个孩子只好自己当家。孩子们期待父母能在除夕前回家，于是努力工作赚钱，以准备一顿丰盛的团圆饭。 阿萍（陈莉萍）的丈夫是个软弱无能的人，收入微薄。为了补贴家用，她自制家庭糕点赚外快，此外，她还得照顾已痴呆的家翁。她的坚强和勤劳，让她有了个“女铁人”的外号。但是，经济不景气，丈夫失业了，家境更惨了，而还处青春少年期的女儿却怀了孕，这一切打击让阿萍倒下…… Banana白天在超市工作，晚上兼职啤酒女郎，她的懒惰丈夫达雄（唐育书）经营的食物摊子并不赚钱。为了与年轻的啤酒女郎竞争，Banana开始学游泳，想锻炼出健美身材。但这一番苦心，却被达雄误会她是在搞婚外情…… 他们能否解决难题、冰释前嫌，及时赶上除夕夜的团圆饭呢？
