Yuru Yuri follows the everyday life of schoolgirls at the fictitious Nanamori Middle School in Takaoka , Toyama . The year before the series starts , Kyoko Toshino and Yui Funami take over the former room of the school's Tea Ceremony Club to form the Amusement Club . When Kyoko and Yul's friend , Akaza , enters their school , she immediately becomes part of the club , along with her classmate , Chinatsu Yoshikawa . Members of the student council often visit the club .
