本剧的剧情以从小身世坎坷而不得不放弃进医科大学学习这一梦想的主人公崔钟秀的视角展开。他没有把自己的行程告诉任何人，独自一人来到了偏僻的有英岛。在岛上，当地医院的边所长收留了他，于是他一边向所长学习医术，一边在医院里当帮手。他虽然没有行医资格，但是在不得已的情况下，也只好硬着头皮冒充医生。一次，他偶然救活了一个奄奄一息的女病人，从此被人们误认为是医术高明的医生。他跟自己救活的女孩子有了接触，平淡的日子开始变得波澜起伏，麻烦丛生。虽然两人之间误会不断，但是就在不知不觉之中，两人互生情愫。钟秀在情网中越陷越深，为了捍卫自己的爱情，他不得已只好以连篇的谎言包装自己的学历和过去，而且变得越来越大胆。到头来，他才发现所有的一切都像美丽的肥皂泡，一触即破。为了爱情付出了一切的他，已经中毒太深，甚至将自己毁灭。
