The album celebrates all genres of Irish music, interpreted by Ireland's top orchestral arrangers, Noel Kelehan and John Tate. Opening with 'Cead Mile Failte' (A Hundred Thousand Welcomes), a rousing medley of dance tunes welcomes the listener to the world of the RTE orchestra. 'Mountains of Mourne' follow, and carries the listener away in the magical mystery of Ireland. Meav Ni Mhaolchatha, the soloist from Riverdance, gives powerful renditions of the 'Last Rose of Summer', 'Danny Boy', 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling' and 42nd Street Reel, a new arrangment by John Tate, juxtaposes Irish and American dance rhythms and leads Celtic Spirit to its exciting finale. Celtic Spirit is an amazing journey through the wonder of Ireland, embarked on with the skill and dexerity of Ireland's Premier Orchestra.
