This was a good overview and seeing the film clips on a large screen was a treat. his flicks work well when the best bits are extracted and displayed. a pretty lively introduction to chaplin's work and long life. some pretty cool home movies and archival type footage turn up. the people who were interviewed were mostly interesting and insightful. Some testimonies were more helpful than others: Scorsese really knows his stuff, Woody Allen comes off as a hater, robert downey jr simply turned up wearing a lot of make up. the documentary inevitably offered no explanations for King in New York or Countess in Hong Kong and chose to focus on the better films paying a surprising amount of attention to Woman of Paris and Verdoux...
