Yoo Hye-jung (Park Shin-hye) was a wayward girl in high school with a prickly, gangster personality. Due to her many childhood scars, Hye-jung keeps her heart closed towards other people. However, she changes after meeting her mentor Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won), who plays a key role in transforming her life from a "hopeless" delinquent to a compassionate doctor. They part ways subsequently but meet again after 13 years, when Yoo Hye-jung becomes a doctor.^[3]

講述生活一團糟的高中生劉慧靜（朴信惠飾）與因手術失誤的陰影選擇逃避為生物教師的洪智弘（金來沅飾）間好感剛萌芽卻被嫉妒慧靜的同學陳瑞雨（李聖經飾）誣衊兩人有超乎師生的不當關係。13年後慧靜與瑞雨成為國日醫院的神經外科主治醫生，而智弘則成為神經外科的醫學教授，三人與鄭允道醫生（尹均相飾）及醫療團隊一起克服與面對各種醫學難題與醫療個案。允道在與慧靜共事的過程中對她暗生情愫。全劇主軸通過愛情展現劇中人物變化與成長的故事，探討生命的意義，而劇中人物的愛恨糾葛與� {查慧靜奶奶姜末順（金姈愛飾）的死亡真相也是看點之一。本劇通過主角的視角探討人性與社會的現實面。
