Golden Globe and Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser) breathes new life into the musical adaptation beloved by millions of theatergoers every holiday season as it comes to television filled with hope, holiday cheer and the uplifting power of the human spirit. Charles Dickens's classic tale still stirs in everyone the same feelings of repentance, love, and forgiveness that transformed Scrooge himself. Ever since that Christmas Eve seven years ago when Ebenezer Scrooge (Grammer) buried his longtime friend and business partner, Jacob Marley (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jason Alexander, Seinfeld), Scrooge's melancholy has settled into an eternal bitterness toward the holidays and his fellow man. His loyal but meek clerk, Bob Cratchit (Edward Gower), is the constant target of his cruelty and even Scrooge's own nephew inspires in his uncle no holiday sentiment warmer than 'Bah! Humbug!' But this Christmas Eve is startlingly different. Scrooge has company - the ghost of his old partner has arrived to warn him of the consequences of the suffering he has caused and to extend an invitation for redemption. It comes in the form of three spirits: First, the Ghost of Christmas Past (Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Jane Krakowski, Ally McBeal) to show Scrooge the errors of his youth and his lost chance at his one true love, Emily (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Garfield). Next, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Jesse L. Martin, Law & Order) invites the miserly old man to witness the Cratchit family Christmas. Even with their youngest son Tiny Tim crippled and ailing, the Cratchits are blessed, happy, and grateful. Last but not least is the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come (Golden Globe nominee Geraldine Chaplin, The Odyssey) who leads Scrooge to a bleak vision of his future, including his own death, visited and mourned by nary a soul. Pleading with the spirit to give him another chance, the penitent Scrooge promises to alter his life and to know Christmas in his heart all year round.
