Shindo Issei, who has returned to Japan after the end of an international humanitarian aid medical mission in Africa, is working at the emergency medical care centre of a medical school in Yokohama but it is a hospital where all the emergency doctors have resigned. Meanwhile, Shindo's colleague, Kojima Kaede, is being kept away from the centre because she has been sued for medical malpractice. At that moment, Sawai Etsushi, an ultra rationalist with experience working in ER in America arrives to revive the hospital which has scraped together a team of temporary doctors. Shindo, who pursue his ideals of emergency and critical care, braces himself for a confrontation with these doctors with different philosophies and a battle begins......

2009年，完成了国际人道主义支援医师团的任务之后，近藤一生（江口洋介）决定从非洲回国，并在一所位于横滨的医大的急救中心工作。然而他没想到的是，那所医院的急救医生全体辞职了。并面对着一系列医生不足，病床不足，救护车出车混乱，深夜的外来急救被简陋化，无理取闹的病患，医疗事故，医疗官司等麻烦问题。而且目前为止急救医生的工作条件都过于苛刻，问题如山。但是，近藤知道，这如山的问题到这个地步即将崩溃。而这其中，小岛枫（松岛菜菜子）不知为何要从急救医疗现场离去。其实，枫现在正因为一起医疗事故被起诉，被院方逼着辞职。在急救医生一并辞职，不得不召集临时医生的医院，近藤准备如何奋斗下去，而枫又将如何与近藤再会，重新以急救医生的身份复出呢......
