弃儿豆豆多亏老婆婆罗洛塔收留了他。罗洛塔死后，豆豆只得到米兰城外贫民屈歇息。不料当地发现了油矿，富人打算收回土地开采石油，而将所有穷人赶走。穷人合力抵抗无效，已经仙逝的罗洛塔赶紧派了一只“魔鸽”前来搭救。“魔鸽”可以听任差遣，帮助穷人如愿以偿，不幸的是“捕猎天使”却抓走了“魔鸽”，于是穷人又陷入了困境。好在最后罗洛塔寻回“魔鸽”，让它载负所有穷人一同飞往幸福的乐土……
