本片讲述的是三个水兵盖比（斯坦利．多南饰）、奇布（杰克．黑利饰）、与阿吉（弗兰克．辛纳屈饰）希望有机会能在一天之中饱览纽约风光，而在这时盖比对地铁小姐艾维．史密斯（爱丽丝．皮尔希饰）一见钟情，而在计程车上女司机海吉对奇布表达情意。四人一起去寻找艾维，在展览室内不巧碰倒了一座恐龙化石至使散架，军警合力追捕阿吉。盖比终于找到了艾维，却在晚会中艾维再次消失，盖比颓丧之余认为艾维瞧不起他。待得知艾维的下落后，始知原来艾维为了付学费晚上在驿车上表演歌舞。
