‘The Lord of the Drama’ is a comedy series set in the entertainment business and revolves around the drama-production world featuring a production company CEO, a rookie writer, and a top star. Anthony Kim (Kim Myung Min) is a greedy but brilliant CEO of a production company who would do everything and anything for money. He is extremely talented in running a business. Lee Go Eun (Jung Ryu Won) is a warm-hearted, honest and aspiring rookie writer. Meanwhile, Kang Hyun Min (Choi Si Won) is a self-confident, ruthless, egoistic and arrogant top star. What is a Drama? 《电视剧之王》讲述一部电视剧从企划到最终播出这段时间里，认为“电视剧是赚钱道具”的电视制作公司代表安东尼金（金明民饰）、与认为“电视剧是表达人间之爱”的助理编剧李高恩（郑丽媛饰）、以及不懂妥协、充满自信的超级巨星姜赫民（崔始源饰）之间发生的有趣故事。[5]

金安东尼是一个为了作品可以连父母都抛弃的王牌电视剧制作人，他创造了无数的收视神话，捧红了无数明星，在演艺圈的地位无人能敌。但他目中无人、做事不择手段的个性，也激怒了身边所有的人，却碍於他呼风唤雨的势力，只得默默忍气吞声。为了强行在电视剧中加入赞助商「置入性行销」的戏份，安东尼不惜槓上编剧，甚至利用编剧助理李高恩，欺骗她来动笔修改剧本，终於在最後一刻完成拍摄。安东尼祭出高薪利诱快递，要他卖命护送母带到电视台。但没想到，快递在运送途中不幸发生意外，安东尼因此被公司扫地出门，变成人人喊打的过街老鼠。而李高恩也因被编剧误会而被封杀，只好在妈妈的烤鱼店打零工帮忙。一个是穷途潦倒的电视剧制作人，一个是有志难伸的菜鸟编剧，这两个离梦想越来越远的人，该如何抓到机会，携手重拾梦想，再次重登电视剧帝王的宝座呢?
