Long time ago in Korea,during the time of Chi-Sun Dynasty,there was a group of women called 'Da-Mo'.'Da-Mo' is the name of the job meaning the police woman.'Da-Mo'was regarded as the low class but they had the privilege to investigate lady's private room and interview the ladies of the high siciety there no man could approac.Da-Mo's who are working in the palace were even exposed to the undergoing political intrigue.

故事发生在16世纪的朝鲜。彩玉本是贵族之女，原名在喜。七岁时家中变故，父亲张日顺背负叛逆之名自尽身亡。彩玉与哥哥在逃亡中失散后，被送入皇甫允家为奴，成为允的婢女。允天资聪颖但叛逆不羁，被送往一名僧处学习武艺，彩玉也作为婢女随行。

转眼十五年过去了，彩玉已出落成楚楚动人的少女。在共同的生活中，她与允虽互生爱慕之情，但封建社会门第的差异成为他们不可逾越的鸿沟。学成之后，师父将皇甫允推荐给赵世旭将军成为捕盗厅的从事官，而彩玉也成为他身边的一名茶母。

聪明的彩玉成为皇甫允身边的得力助手，屡破奇案。两人感情日深，但却不敢越雷池一步。同时，皇甫允上司赵将军的女儿兰希小姐也暗暗钟情于正直的允。

在追查私铸钱的案件中，彩玉遇到了叛逆势力的首领—剑术高超的张城伯。对彩玉深有好感的张城伯屡次出手相救，但公务在身的彩玉却在暗中调查张私铸钱的罪证。然而令彩玉意想不到的是，张城伯竟就是她失散多年的哥哥在武。

与此同时，皇甫允因朝廷的明争暗斗，而受到众多的排挤、陷害。感情的纠缠、权势的争斗，演绎出一段曲折凄美的感人故事。
